  • This is our interpretation of Khanumhotep and Niankhkhanum.
Dating back to 2400BC in Egypt, these 2 men are seen by most historians as the first recorded gay couple. They worked as royal manicurists to King Unas, and it is in his pyramid that they share a tomb together. In their tomb there are pictures of them nose to nose - this is seen as the most intimate embrace in Egyptian art.
